No Whining

You are not your own, you were bought at a price.
1 Corinthians 6:19-20
Oswald Chambers silenced my bout of self-pity with his words, “Stop whining about
shattered dreams!” The fuller version redirected my focus.
“The first thing God does with us is to get us based on rugged Reality until we do not care what becomes of us individually as long as He gets His way for the purpose of His Redemption. Why shouldn’t we go through heartbreaks? Through those doorways God is opening up ways of fellowship with His Son…. We sit down on the threshold of God’s purpose and die away of self-pity…. He comes with the grip of the pierced hand of His Son and says, “Enter into fellowship with Me; arise and shine.” If through a broken heart God can bring His purposes to pass in the world, then thank Him for breaking your heart*”.
I had thanked God for other ways He worked within the shattering experience of a
narcissistic relationship, but I had never thanked Him for my broken heart. My
illusionary “happily ever after dream” did not fit His plan for drawing me deeper into
intimate dependence.
Weeks passed before I could authentically say, “Thank You, Lord, for breaking my
heart.” Except for the unwelcomed moments of self-pity, I celebrate where God
has brought me in intimate dependence upon Him—even if it required breaking my
heart.
Father, You are the author and perfecter of my life and my faith. I acknowledge
that I am not my own, I was bought with a price. I yield my life and my future to
Your sovereign love and care as You draw me closer to Your heart. In the name of
Jesus, I pray, amen.

Well, I guess I need to ponder my broken heart.
I too have not thanked him for that.
